Job Openings Senior Data Scientist - Portugal Full Remote

About the job Senior Data Scientist - Portugal Full Remote

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join a high-performing engineering organization where software is built by people, for people — powering systems that impact users worldwide. We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist to act as a technical partner inside an agile, collaborative team, shaping resilient and scalable data products rather than simply maintaining pipelines. This is an environment that values empathy, self-organization, and the courage to take calculated risks — where solving complex problems and mentoring peers are core parts of the role, not side tasks.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You'll work directly with C-level stakeholders (CEO/COO) and client-side teams, partnering with marketing and product to diagnose business challenges and translate them into rigorous data science initiatives. Your models will influence marketing spend optimization and product growth strategy through statistical modeling, causal inference, rapid prototyping, and clear data storytelling for technical and non-technical audiences alike. You'll own solutions end to end: from data modeling and feature engineering in Databricks to productionizing experiments through automated CI/CD pipelines. Occasional national and international travel is expected (0%–15%, depending on project and client needs).

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Data Scientist, leading complex initiatives with significant autonomy
  • Strong proficiency in Python 3.10+ (pandas 2.x, scikit-learn 1.4+, statsmodels) and R 4.x — both are mandatory
  • Advanced SQL for manipulating and structuring large multi-dimensional datasets
  • Solid experience with CI/CD tooling (Git, GitHub Actions / GitLab CI / Azure DevOps) applied to data and ML workflows
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider — AWS preferred (S3, Redshift, SageMaker, Lambda)
  • Strong understanding of data modeling methodologies: Kimball, Inmon and Data Vault 2.0
  • Practical experience with Databricks (Apache Spark 3.x, Delta Lake, MLflow) or an equivalent lakehouse platform
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to turn raw data into compelling, non-technical narratives
  • Proven ability to influence product and marketing strategy with data-backed evidence at all organizational levels
  • English at B2 level or above (working language); Portuguese is a plus

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)

  • Experience with causal inference and Bayesian libraries such as CausalImpact, RStan or PyMC
  • Exposure to Snowflake or other cloud data warehouses
  • Familiarity with Azure or GCP in addition to AWS
  • Experience with dbt, Airflow or Terraform for orchestration and infrastructure as code
  • Background in marketing analytics, MMM (Marketing Mix Modeling) or experimentation frameworks
  • Experience mentoring junior data scientists or leading technical discovery with clients

Compensation: €2,200 – €2,700/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.
