About the job Data Architect (ETL/AWS Redshift) - Hybrid Portugal (1 day/week office)
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Join a forward-thinking organization driving data transformation at scale. This is a consulting engagement where you'll play a central role in shaping how data flows, gets structured, and delivers value across the business. You'll be working with a tech-forward team that values architectural rigour and modern cloud-native thinking. The position is open to candidates based in Porto or Lisbon, with just one day per week in the office — giving you flexibility without losing team connection.
PROJECT & CONTEXT
You'll be embedded in a data-intensive environment where architecture decisions directly influence how the organization manages, governs, and leverages its data assets. The work spans cloud data infrastructure, integration pipelines, and data modeling — with a strong emphasis on AWS-based platforms. This is a hands-on architecture role where your designs will go from whiteboard to production, and your input on governance and security practices will carry real weight.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Solid grounding in data architecture principles and industry best practices, with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable designs
- Proven experience designing and implementing data models and database schemas suited to analytical and operational workloads
- Hands-on proficiency with ETL/ELT processes and data integration tooling, including experience building and optimizing pipelines in production environments
- Practical knowledge of AWS Redshift and broader AWS data services, with the ability to architect cloud-native data solutions
- Understanding of data governance frameworks, data security policies, and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR compliance considerations)
- Experience with data storage and processing paradigms including data warehouses and data lakes
- English at B2 level (Upper Intermediate) or above — required for daily communication with stakeholders and technical teams
NICE TO HAVE
- Familiarity with additional cloud data platforms such as Azure Synapse Analytics or Google BigQuery
- Experience with data lake architectures (e.g., AWS S3-based lakes with cataloguing via AWS Glue)
- Exposure to modern data stack tooling or orchestration frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, dbt)
- Background in data mesh or data fabric architectural approaches
- Experience working in consulting or multi-client environments
