About the job Mechanical Design & Simulation Engineer - Hybrid Vila do Conde (2 days/week office)
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Join a global precision engineering company with over 2,200 employees and 450 engineers across 26 locations in 11 countries. As part of a family of companies united by a common goal — delivering the most robust, reliable, and high-value products in motion, controls, and power — you'll contribute to innovative solutions serving Aerospace & Defense, Medical, Agriculture, Industrial, Automotive, Electronics, and more. Based in Vila do Conde, Portugal (dedicated exclusively to motor production), you'll be part of the Global Engineering Team – Europe, a distributed group spanning Portugal, the UK, and Sweden that creates standardized electronics and software platforms for cost-effective integrated products across all European technical units.
PROJECT & CONTEXT
You'll design and analyze innovative mechanical systems and components for integrated drives that control brushless DC motors and actuation systems used in industrial automation, vehicle control, and space launch systems. Your work spans concept-to-design translation, CAD modeling, FEA & CFD analysis, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to deliver high-performance solutions that provide competitive advantages to customers. Responsibilities include designing and optimizing mechanical components using SolidWorks, creating simulation models (thermal, electrical, kinematic), performing ANSYS-based structural and thermal analysis, developing testing platforms and fixtures, conducting performance and vibration testing, and validating algorithms in Matlab, Simulink, or Python. You'll apply thermodynamic concepts to design high-power-density systems and collaborate closely with electronics, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration.
