ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join a leading Nordic technology company's Portuguese tech center as AI Technology Lead. This is a highly strategic role for a visionary technologist who will drive the adoption of generative AI across multiple product engineering teams. You'll act as AI evangelist, Dev Productivity Lead, and internal technology consultant, shaping how AI transforms software development practices across the organization.

This is not a hands-on development position—it's a transformative leadership role focused on guidance, evangelization, and organizational change. You'll work directly with the Hiring Manager based in Oslo, influencing engineering teams across Europe to adopt cutting-edge AI practices that deliver measurable productivity gains and innovation acceleration.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

Our client established their Porto tech center in 2022 with a strategic focus on innovation, security, AI, and product design for their SaaS solutions. The center collaborates with multiple product teams across European markets, working on cloud-based enterprise software that impacts thousands of businesses daily.

As AI Technology Lead, you'll define and execute strategies for integrating generative AI into software engineering workflows. You'll conduct hands-on workshops on tools like GitHub Copilot and Cursor, deliver inspiring demonstrations of latest GenAI capabilities, evaluate emerging AI tools, and create proof-of-concepts with tangible business impact. Your work will directly influence product development velocity, engineering productivity, and the organization's competitive positioning in AI-driven software innovation.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

• Senior-level experience in software engineering with deep understanding of software architectures, development practices, and engineering principles
• Hands-on experience with Generative AI tools and platforms, including practical application in product development contexts
• Expertise in prompt engineering and AI-powered development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar)
• Strategic and result-oriented mindset with ability to identify how AI transforms product development and translate innovations into scalable practices
• Proven change management experience guiding teams through technology transitions and fostering adoption of new practices
• Exceptional communication skills with ability to explain complex AI concepts clearly to technical, product, and executive audiences
• Organizational impact track record demonstrating important decisions and changes driven in previous roles
• Team enablement experience through mentoring, teaching, and practical guidance (not direct people management)
• Product development lifecycle expertise with understanding of pre-AI and post-AI product evolution
• English proficiency: B2 level minimum (Upper Intermediate) for daily collaboration with international teams
• Passion for technology with proactive approach and continuous learning mindset
• Based in Portugal with availability for full-remote work

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)

• Experience with AI agents and autonomous AI systems
• Background working in SaaS or cloud-based product companies
• Exposure to Nordic work cultures and distributed team environments
• Previous experience as Tech Evangelist or similar advocacy role
• Track record of building internal enablement programs or competence-sharing initiatives
• Experience running workshops and technical training sessions at scale
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and modern CI/CD pipelines
• Understanding of enterprise software architectures and multi-tenancy considerations
• Portfolio of AI-driven proof-of-concepts or innovation projects
