Our client is one of the largest Malaysian semiconductor companies listed on Bursa Malaysia, with total built-up production floor space of 1,800,000 square feet across Malaysia, Philippines and China. 

Summary of role

Overseeing legal and risk matters for the Group. You will be responsible for rendering support, expertise, and advice on various legal, regulatory, compliance, operational, contractual, and corporate legal matters to ensure the continued success of the company.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Prepare, draft, and conduct a comprehensive review of contracts, agreements, letters, and legal documents arising from day-to-day business and operations, commercial and corporate matters, including corporate exercise, mergers and acquisitions, investments, commercial arrangements, collaborations and/or alliances, customer contracts, vendor/supplier contracts etc.

  • Form a strategic approach and lead negotiations with counterparties to achieve the best possible options or positions in contract negotiations for the company.
  • Analyze and address legal and risk issues, and provide legal advice, and appropriate solutions.
  • Coordinating, liaising and reviewing commercial terms of contract with internal stakeholder and counter party.
  • To ensure adherence to the statutory, regulatory and internal corporate requirements.
  • Evaluate company procedures and reports to identify concealed or potential risks. Create, review, and enhance the company policies and procedures, ensuring implementation and compliance with the rules and regulations.
  • To undertake any other tasks and assignments directed at the discretionary of the superior.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) with at least 5 - 8 years of relevant experience. In-house legal experience is viewed as an added advantage.
  • Good working experience in corporate and commercial contract is essential.
  • Strong and good written and oral communication skills in English. Fluent in speaking, and reading Mandarin is essential in order to review and analyse and communicate with our subsidiary companies in China.
  • Critical thinking ability to evaluate fact situation, identify legal issues, analyse, understand and apply the statutes and regulations. Accountability and high professional integrity and mature.
  • Meticulous attention to fine detail and able to work to tight deadlines. Highly organised and detail-oriented.
  • Enthusiastic team-player, willing to learn, quality-conscious with an eye for detail, practical and discreet in dealing with confidential information.
  • Strong communication skills essential in order to effectively and confidentially, interact with stakeholders of all levels and from multiple business units.
