  • Design core PHY algorithms including modulation/demodulation, channel estimation, equalization, synchronization, error correction, and frequency offset correction.
  • Investigate cutting-edge signal processing techniques to enhance system reliability and performance.

Simulation, Validation & Performance Testing

  • Build and execute simulations using MATLAB, Simulink, Python, or equivalent tools.
  • Validate algorithms under realistic communication channel models (fading, interference, noise, Doppler).
  • Conduct performance benchmarking using metrics such as BER, SNR, throughput, and spectral efficiency.

Hardware Optimization & Integration

  • Optimize algorithms for real-time implementation on FPGA, DSP, and ASIC platforms.
  • Work closely with waveform architects, hardware teams, and software developers to integrate algorithms into complete modem systems.
  • Participate in system-level reviews, troubleshooting, and iterative refinement cycles.

Technical Leadership & Documentation

  • Produce high-quality technical documentation, reports, and presentations for both technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Mentor engineering teams and contribute to design/code reviews, ensuring best-in-class algorithm development practices.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field; PhD strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience developing algorithms for wireless communication modems (5G, WiFi, WiMAX, SDR, tactical radios, etc.).
  • Deep expertise in DSP and PHY-layer algorithm design for single-carrier and multicarrier systems.
  • Hands-on experience with waveform optimization and simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C++).
  • Experience implementing or optimizing algorithms for FPGA, DSP, or ASIC architectures.
  • Strong understanding of communication channel modeling, coding schemes, interference mitigation, and modem performance metrics.
  • Demonstrated success working in cross-disciplinary engineering environments.
