Senior Mechanical Engineer – Hardware (RF / Telecom / Secure Devices)
Abu Dhabi, UAE
Join a leading organization at the forefront of developing cutting-edge secure communication technologies. This company specializes in advanced RF systems, satellite communications, and ultra-secure devices used across defence, aerospace, and critical infrastructure environments.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of ruggedized hardware systems, working closely with Electronics, RF, and Software teams. This is a hands-on position where you will drive mechanical design from concept through to production, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with demanding environmental and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical enclosures and hardware systems for RF, telecom, and secure communication devices.
- Create detailed 2D/3D CAD designs (SolidWorks) including assemblies, technical drawings, and documentation.
- Perform thermal and structural analysis to ensure reliability under environmental stresses such as vibration, shock, and temperature extremes.
- Lead mechanical development across the full lifecycle: concept, prototyping, testing, and production release.
- Ensure designs meet ruggedization and environmental standards (e.g. MIL-STD, DO-160).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (RF, electronics, PCB, software) to deliver fully integrated systems.
- Work closely with vendors and manufacturing partners to support fabrication, assembly, and cost optimisation.
- Support testing and validation activities, including thermal, vibration, and environmental testing.
- Drive design for manufacturability (DFM) and continuous improvement across product iterations.
Technical Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design for hardware products such as RF, telecom, aerospace, or defence.
- Strong experience with SolidWorks (3D modelling, assemblies, drawings).
- Proven experience designing electronic enclosures / ruggedized hardware systems.
- Hands-on experience with thermal and structural analysis tools (e.g. FEA, CFD, Flowtherm or similar).
- Knowledge of materials, machining, and manufacturing processes for high-reliability products.
- Experience working with industry standards such as MIL-STD-810, DO-160, or similar.
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC considerations and thermal management in electronic systems.
- Experience collaborating with vendors and managing prototype to production transitions.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in RF systems, SATCOM, or antenna-related hardware
- Exposure to defence or aerospace environments
- Understanding of PCB integration and system-level packaging
Why Apply?
If you enjoy working on advanced hardware systems, solving complex engineering challenges, and contributing to the development of next-generation secure communication technologies, this is an opportunity to make a real impact.
