Title: Asst. Manager - Underwriting (Life & Health)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform case underwriting to assess applicants risk across the regions in Asia according to the assigned underwriting authority and ensure the SLAs are delivered in good quality.
  • Provide high quality and effective communications on the underwriting decisions to customers and distribution channels.
  • Ensure all underwriting activities are delivered in accordance to the relevant LBU and Group Health Underwriting Standards.
  • Proactively monitor and identify opportunities to improve the underwriting rules engine and processes to enhance operational efficiency and improve customer onboarding journey.
  • Provide underwriting input on new business applications at product development stage and marketing campaigns
  • Participate in relevant Group Health projects and implement underwriting initiatives or campaigns across the regions in Asia.
  • Perform data analysis, prepare and submit to Group Health regular MI report for performance monitoring on new business and underwriting.
  • Collaborate with Group Health Underwriting and reinsurance partner(s) on the implementation of enhanced underwriting practices and guidelines to ensure they are appropriate to the market, meeting legal and regulatory requirements and company's internal policies
  • Collaborate with other internal stakeholders, such as Group Technology, Operations, Customer, Product, Risk and Finance team to help manage health business profitability and deliver excellent customer experiences.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Healthcare administration, Health science or a related field
  • Solid track record in the insurance underwriting field with over 5 years relevant experience in Life and Health underwriting, preferably in International Private Medical Insurance (IPMI) product
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance and familiar with actuarial terminology
  • Professional qualifications in Life Insurance including LOMA, ALU or equivalent qualifications is desirable.
  • Self-motivated and ability to exercise good and effective independent judgement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, customer services and influencing skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to achieve collaborative success with other functional areas.
  • PC literate in MS Office application, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. and Chinese word processing.
