ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a Medical Records Retrieval Specialist - Nurse to be part of our team.
The role is responsible for efficiently obtaining and managing medical records necessary for legal cases.
This role is crucial in supporting attorneys by ensuring they have timely access to accurate medical information that can impact case outcomes.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Requesting Medical Records: Initiating requests for medical records from various healthcare providers, including hospitals, clinics, and physicians.
- Following Up: Actively tracking the status of requests and ensuring timely responses from medical facilities to meet legal deadlines.
- Organizing Information: Compiling and organizing retrieved medical records into a structured format that attorneys can easily review and utilize for their cases.
- Ensuring Compliance: Adhering to legal and regulatory standards, such as HIPAA, to protect patient confidentiality and ensure the lawful handling of medical information.
- Communicating with Providers: Liaising with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies or incomplete records and to expedite the retrieval process.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must have a degree in Nursing.
- Previous experience in medical record retrieval or a related healthcare administrative role is advantageous. Familiarity with legal processes is a plus.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software to manage records efficiently.
- Familiarity with using Case Management tools, particularly Filevine or similar platforms, to manage records, track progress, and ensure accurate documentation
- Good communication skill
- Willing to work on a night shift schedule.
