About the job Electrical Lead - Data Centres
Electrical Lead – Data Centres (ANZ)
Location: Sydney / Melbourne / Brisbane
Sector: Data Centre & Mission-Critical Infrastructure
About the Role
IKG Talent is partnering with a major global engineering and infrastructure consultancy to find an Electrical Lead for their ANZ Data Centre team. This business delivers large-scale hyperscale, colocation and mission-critical projects for some of the world's biggest technology and infrastructure operators, and the ANZ data centre pipeline is expanding fast.
This role sits at the centre of that growth. You'll carry technical accountability across a portfolio of live projects while also shaping how the team delivers, wins and grows in the region — it's as much about setting technical direction and building client trust as it is about the engineering itself.
It suits someone who wants genuine influence over how a data centre practice is run, not just a seat within it: shaping engineering standards, backing junior engineers as they come up through the ranks, and being the person clients call when a project needs a steady technical hand.
What the Role Covers
You'll hold electrical leadership across major hyperscale, colocation and mission-critical builds throughout Australia and New Zealand, working alongside project teams, client stakeholders and the wider international technical network to land strong engineering outcomes.
Day to day, that looks like:
- Owning electrical delivery across a live portfolio of mission-critical projects, from early design through to commissioning and handover
- Directing multidisciplinary design teams and keeping delivery on track at each project stage
- Setting the bar on engineering quality — reviewing designs, signing off critical deliverables and catching issues before they become problems
- Balancing technical rigour against commercial reality: cost, programme and risk all matter alongside the engineering
- Acting as a trusted technical voice for clients, and building the kind of relationships that bring in repeat and referral work
- Developing the electrical engineers around you, so capability grows across the team, not just within one role
What You'll Bring
- A strong track record delivering complex electrical engineering on data centre, mission-critical or comparable advanced facilities projects
- Experience running multidisciplinary teams through large, technically demanding builds
- Solid grounding in the electrical systems that underpin mission-critical environments (redundancy, resilience, power distribution and the like)
- A history of working directly with major clients — not just delivering to a brief, but shaping it
- Strong commercial instincts: an understanding of risk, programme and how engineering decisions land commercially
- Chartered status and a relevant electrical engineering qualification
