About the Role

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Manager to oversee the end-to-end commissioning of critical mechanical systems for a major data centre project in Melbourne. This position is instrumental in delivering high-performance HVAC, chilled water, and fluid distribution systems that meet the stringent reliability, efficiency, and safety standards of hyperscale infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of mechanical commissioning across HVAC, chilled water, and fluid distribution systems.

  • Review mechanical design and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure system compatibility and optimal performance.

  • Develop and approve test scripts for mechanical equipment, ensuring alignment with local and international engineering standards.

  • Manage commissioning consultants (CxAs) and interface with vendors during equipment FATs/FWTs and installation.

  • Conduct QA/QC inspections and troubleshoot any performance issues during system integration and commissioning.

  • Ensure commissioning documentation is thorough and compliant with project and regulatory requirements.

  • Liaise with the operations team to ensure smooth handover and system readiness for live operations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical commissioning, ideally within data centre or other mission-critical environments.

  • In-depth understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and complex mechanical system behaviour.

  • Familiarity with Australian Standards, industry codes, and sustainable building practices (Green Star, LEED).

  • Strong communication skills and ability to lead technical discussions across multidisciplinary teams.
