Design & Engineering Team

The Design & Engineering (D&E) team drives technology innovation, new site development, quality, and engineering excellence for data center infrastructure. Responsibilities include evaluating site technical viability, optimizing engineering for cost and schedule, and providing lifecycle expertise from concept to commissioning. The team partners with sales, operations, construction, and innovation groups to enforce standards, regulations, and designs—especially in established APAC markets and new regions.

Position: Director - Design Engineering

Located in Kuala Lumpur, this role owns the design lifecycle for data center projects, managing engineering teams, procurement, client interfaces, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead development, review, and enhancement of design standards and specifications.
• Support sales via technical updates on progress, risks, changes, and priorities.
• Oversee procurement, vendor selection, contracts, and value engineering.
• Drive process improvements, change management, and efficiency gains.
• Ensure quality, risk mitigation, and compliance through site inspections.
• Foster team development via feedback, lessons learned, and benchmarking.
• Manage design briefs, changes, cost impacts, and technical interfaces.

Requirements

• Bachelor's in construction management, building services engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 12+ years in data center design management or leadership.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysia construction markets, critical cooling/power systems, codes, and fire regulations.
