The Role

As a HR Associate, you'll help drive key people processes, from recruitment and onboarding to performance and employee engagement, while ensuring a positive and consistent employee experience. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to support the development and execution of effective people strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Talent Acquisition Support (40%)
    • Independently manage full-cycle recruitment for entry and mid-level positions.
    • Develop and maintain talent pipelines through proactive sourcing strategies.
    • Conduct initial candidate screenings and coordinate the interview process.
    • Draft and finalize offer letters and employment contracts.
    • Contribute to workforce planning discussions and recruitment strategy.
  • HR Operations & Administration (35%)
    • Support the preparation and tracking of HR documents, including employment contracts, contract renewals, promotion letters, and other official HR correspondence.
    • Assist with payroll administration including processing payroll inputs and validating their accuracy before submission.
    • Ensure timely preparation and submission of statutory documentation (PAYE, SHIF, NSSF) in collaboration with Finance.
    • Ensure employee awareness of key HR policies and support overall compliance with Kenyan labour laws.
    • Support the administration of employee benefits, including onboarding and offboarding for medical cover and WIBA, and respond to related queries.
    • Support HR audit preparations and maintain proper documentation.
    • Serve as the first point of contact for employee queries and concerns.
    • Prepare comprehensive monthly HR analytics reports including turnover, headcount, and leave liability metrics.
  • Employee Lifecycle Management (15%)
    • Manage structured onboarding programs for new hires.
    • Conduct new employee orientations and coordinate cross-departmental inductions.
    • Manage performance review cycles and documentation.
    • Facilitate offboarding processes including exit interviews and knowledge transfer.
    • Maintain accurate records of all employee lifecycle events.
  • Culture & Engagement (10%)
    • Assist in the implementation of culture initiatives.
    • Support planning and coordination of team events and wellbeing activities.
    • Help gather feedback via surveys and support internal communication efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, or a related field.
  • CHRP-K certification and active IHRM membership.
  • Strong knowledge of Kenyan employment law and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms.
