Our client, an Ophthalmologist based in the North West of Johannesburg, is seeking to recruit a medical receptionist to join their practice.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Patient Liaison:

  • Assist with queries and communication from patients contacting the practice (Telephonic & Email)
  • Assist with follow up of patients in between appointments
  • Managing the patient diary, appointments, admissions and registrations
  • Surgery Support:
  • Prepare theatre lists
  • Be the clinical liaison between Dr and hospital staff
  • Make follow up calls to patients before and after surgery or procedures
  • Admin:
  • Order and maintain stock and equipment requirements
  • Confirm authorisations, benefits and limits
  • General administrative tasks
  • Oversee accurate transfer of information to patient files and ensure that all patient records are complete
  • Ensure practice policies and best practices are up to industry standards and government regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Matric Certificate
  • At least 3-5 years experience in a medical practice
  • GoodX experience is essential with good understanding of reporting
  • Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, Emails etc)
  • General clinical and ophthalmology experience is beneficial

Working hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 08h00 - 17h00
  • Overtime as and when and if required
