A specialist Cardio-Thoracic Surgery practice in Vereeniging, Gauteng is seeking to recruit an experienced Medical Receptionist. The successful candidate will manage front desk operations, patient coordination, and administrative support within a busy specialist environment while maintaining a professional and patient focused experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer calls professionally and ensure accurate message taking
- Communicate with patients via phone, email, or SMS regarding doctor feedback
- Manage appointment scheduling and diary coordination
- Prepare patient files for upcoming appointments
- Welcome patients and manage expectations regarding waiting times
- Verify and update patient information and open new patient accounts
- Capture patient details accurately on the system
- Obtain referral letters and liaise with external healthcare providers
- Assist with obtaining laboratory, radiology, and other medical results
- Provide patients with necessary information and documentation for procedures and hospital admissions
- Arrange hospital admissions including theatre and step down facilities
- Track surgical cases and patient progress where required
- Type dictated medical reports and correspondence
- Maintain pharmacy accounts and stock records
- Process payments and issue receipts
- Allocate patient payments accurately
- Liaise with hospital departments, suppliers, and service providers
- Assist the doctor with general administrative duties
Qualification and Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Experience in a similar medical receptionist role essential
- Strong knowledge of ICD10 and RPL coding essential
- Experience with medical billing advantageous
- Computer literacy including MS Office, especially Excel
- Experience with medical software beneficial

Work Hours:
Monday to Friday, 08h00 – 17h00
