A specialist ENT Surgery practice in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha), Eastern Cape is seeking to recruit an experienced Medical Receptionist. This front office role focuses on patient experience, appointment coordination, and administrative support within a busy specialist practice. The ideal candidate will be professional, organised, and eager to learn.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and manage check in and check out processes
- Verify patient demographics and update medical aid or account information
- Collect payments and issue receipts
- Manage appointment scheduling, rescheduling, cancellations, and recall systems
- Prepare patient files for upcoming appointments
- Answer multi line phones and take accurate messages
- Communicate with patients via phone, email, or SMS
- Direct urgent clinical queries to the nurse or doctor
- Capture and update patient records accurately on the system
- Process referrals and manage incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Upload laboratory, imaging, and external reports to the patient record system
- Arrange admissions, procedures, and related documentation where required
- Type dictated medical letters and reports
- Liaise with hospitals, suppliers, and service providers
- Assist the doctor with general administrative duties
Qualification and Requirements:
- National Senior Certificate / Matric
- Minimum 1 year experience in a medical receptionist or similar role
- Strong knowledge of ICD10 and RPL coding advantageous
- Experience with medical billing advantageous
- Computer literacy essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Experience with GoodX advantageous
- Familiarity with medical software and EHR systems beneficial

Work Hours:
Monday to Friday, 09h00 to 17h00
Saturday, 09h00 to 12h00
