Our client, a Palliative Care Medical Practice based in Roodepoort, is seeking to recruit an experienced medical receptionist who will attend to all the necessary responsibilities with professionalism and excellent patient care.

The practice requires the ideal candidate to be a front-line, personable person with people and telephone skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Booking and managing doctor's appointments with ability to manage a flexible diary.
  • Registering patients on medical software, checking available funds, collecting fees post consult.
  • Managing daily practice reporting functions on Excel
  • Receiving and managing patient clinical reports from other clinical entities
  • Accurately capture patient demographics
  • Managing scripting requirements for patients by obtaining all information for medications needed, listing scripts for doctor to do and forwarding scripts to appropriate source timeously
  • Managing administrative functions for the doctor in keeping priority lists of admin tasks that the doctor must complete for both GP and Palliative patients.
  • Assist in obtaining motivations for palliative care from medical aids.
  • Arrange services for patients at home by liaising with service providers.
  • Obtaining historical and current clinical reports for palliative patients and obtaining clinical reports for GP patients.
  • Assisting in credit control functions
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Assist doctor/s with personal matters
  • Managing Practice Facility requirements
  • Ordering and receiving goods
  • Assisting with procuring maintenance services
  • Monitoring safety issues


Qualification and Requirements:

  • Matric
  • At least 2 years' experience in a similar medical receptionist position
  • Experience in medical software will be an advantage
  • Computer skills in MS Word & Excel are essential
  • Afrikaans & English (written & verbal)
  • Valid driver's license and own reliable transport

Working hours:

  • Monday to Thursday from 07h30 to 16h30
  • Friday from 07h30 to 14h00
  • Saturday from 08h00 to 14h00 (3 on, 1 off)
