About the Role

A leading diagnostics and laboratory services provider is requiring a healthcare professional who can undertake soft skills training to Phlebotomists and the team members. The candidate will be responsible for implementing training that strengthens the interpersonal, communication, and patient-care capabilities of phlebotomists and related frontline staff. This role ensures that all patient interactions are handled with empathy, professionalism, and adherence to the organisations service standards.

The ideal candidate can be a healthcare professional (such as a qualified nurse) or a phlebotomist with strong training and facilitation skills and a passion for patient-centred care, staff development, and continuous improvement.

The candidate must have some type of training accreditation or experience in training staff, in order to be suitable for this position. 

Key Responsibilities

Training Delivery

  • Facilitate engaging soft-skills training sessions for phlebotomists, including:
    • Patient communication and rapport-building
    • Managing anxious, fearful, or difficult patients
    • Professionalism and patient privacy
    • Conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques
    • Customer service excellence in healthcare
    • Cultural sensitivity and empathy
    • Handling complaints and service recovery

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure training content aligns with:
    • HPCSA ethical guidelines
    • National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) standards
    • Internal quality and patient-interaction protocols
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and observations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Qualification in Phlebotomy, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, or related healthcare field.
  • Previous experience as a trainer, facilitator, or mentor is a non-negotiable
  • Knowledge of phlebotomy techniques.
  • Strong understanding of patient-care best practices, infection control, and professional ethics.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.

Work hours

Monday Friday: 8h00 17h00

Saturdays: 8h00 13h00
