Opthalmic Assistant

Our client, an Ophthalmology Practice based in the northern parts of Johannesburg, is seeking to employ an Ophthalmic Assistant or junior Optometrist with an interest in Ocular Pathology to join their practice.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform testing according to patients ailments and history
• Attend to reporting and electronic Medical notes where necessary
• Administer Ophthalmic or oral medication under the guidance of the ophthalmologist
• Assist with in-room procedures
• Prepare room for intravitreal injections
• Following the necessary protocol and ensuring equipment is sterile and cleanliness of the practice is adhered to
• Provide patient education based on the diagnosis and patient needs
• Stock control & orders to maintain stock levels within the practice

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Optometrist or Ophthalmic Assistant qualification

• Ophthalmic Assistant experience (checking visual acuity, fundus photos, OCT & visual fields) is essential

• Excellent computer skills
