PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To optimise the extraction of the ore body and monitor geological conditions to ensure safe, efficient and economical mining.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12/NQF Level 4/STD 10 is essential.
- Bachelor of Science Degree Geology (Honours) is essential.
- Masters Degree (Geology) would be an advantage.
- Minimum of 1 year on-mine underground experience (Graduate exposure/development program - tabular ore bodies) in the Geology Dept is essential.
- Must have an underground Geological Mapping knowledge is essential.
- Bushveld Geology knowledge is essential.
- Diamond Drilling knowledge is essential.
- Knowledge of Geological Software would be an advantage.
- Electronic Data Capture is essential.
- Project Management would be advantageous.
- Must have a valid medical certificate or be medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate.
COMPETENCIES:
- Communication Skills (verbal and written)
- Geology Report writing
- Computer Skill (MS Office)
- Presentation Skills
- Geology Modelling- Logging Software packages
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Basic contribution towards producing a Structure Model for the Shaft
- Basic contribution towards producing a Mineral Resource Model for the Shaft
- To support all initiatives related to Quality of Mining
- To support Cost Control Initiatives
- To support all Shaft Safety Initiatives and timely Communication of all matters related to Geological Hazards.
- Provide support to the Grade Block Model.
- To optimize Underground Workplace Coverage.
- Support to the full Implementation of Geology Software.
- Support to Contractor Safety.
- To ensure Optimal extraction of Orebody
