This position will be part of the dynamic Technical & Projects team based at Mupani Mine, reporting to the SHEQ Officer.

JOB TITLE - SHEQ Assistant (Contract)

JOB GRADING - C1

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• 5 O' Level passes including English Language and Mathematics/Science
• Must be a holder of a valid First Aid certificate
• Minimum of 3 years' mining experience in underground mining operations
• Proficiency in the use of computers
• Diploma in Safety, Health and Environment or equivalent
• Occupational Health and Safety Management Certificate
• Train the Trainer qualification in First Aid will be an added advantage
• A mine blasting license will be an added advantage

CORE COMPETENCIES:

• Ability to work under minimum supervision
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Good presentation skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in the implementation of the integrated Business Management System (BMS) at project sites 
• Assist in conducting BMS audits and inspections 
• Support contractors during incident and non-compliance (NC) investigations 
• Update and maintain SHEQ databases 
• Assist in monitoring and analysing SHEQ leading and lagging indicators 
• Assist in generating SHEQ performance reports and presentations 
• Ensure SHEQ noticeboards are kept updated 
• Conduct routine inspections in working areas 
• Assist in identifying and reporting non-compliances to SHEQ standards and procedures 
• Conduct SHEQ-related training and awareness sessions for project contractors 
• Assist contractors in establishing and implementing SHEQ interventions and programmes 
• Assist in the implementation of zero-harm strategies across project operations
