PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To safely install, fault find, repair and maintain instrumentation equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 or NQF 4 Equivalent is essential
- S2/N4 Certificate in Instrumentation or Equivalent is essential
- Instrument trade test certificate is essential
- Must have drivers license and own transport
- Minimum of 2 years experience as an Instrument Mechanician related to Measure and Control in a Processing environment is essential
- Computer Literacy (MS Office) is essential
- Valid medical certificate is essential and must be fit to obtain such a certificate.
COMPETENCIES:
- MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Operating computer systems (SAP, PLC Programming Software, SCADA Programming
- Software, Calibration Software)
- Principles of PLC Programming
- Read and interpret instrumentation drawings
- Draw and interpret simple engineering drawings
- Identify, inspect, use, maintain and care for engineering hand tools
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install, remove, and maintain various instrumentation and have knowledge of the basic principle of operation of such instruments.
- Perform basic PLC installation, wiring of PLC cards, and do fault finding using PLC ladder logic.
- Use and understand basics of SCADA system, communication between a PLC and SCADA as well as basic network knowledge.
- Interpret P&ID and basic electrical drawings to assist with fault finding.
- Conduct Daily checks on instrument readings and maintenance requirements
- Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in the workplace
- Be able to plan and organise maintenance on a day-to-day basis.
- Perform standby duties as and when required.
