PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Regulatory Compliance Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining processes and systems that ensure the organisation complies with all relevant legislation, regulations, industry standards, policies, and codes applicable to the mining sector.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relevant NQF Level 7 qualification (e.g., B.Com / B.Com Law / LLB / Risk Management).
  • Compliance‑related certification will be an advantage.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years experience in Risk, Audit, or Compliance, preferably in a mining environment.
  • Strong multi‑disciplinary exposure to mining and safety management systems.
  • In‑depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks, compliance requirements, and applicable laws.
  • Knowledge of project management, audit principles, and methodologies will be advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal ability across multifunctional and multicultural teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, analyse and solve problems, and operate independently.
  • Proven capability to identify risks and recommend practical solutions.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and strong teamwork orientation.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office proficiency).
  • High level of emotional maturity.
  • Willingness and ability to travel between business operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Facilitate operational compliance with prioritised legislation and legislative updates through implementation of the Compliance Risk Management Plan (CRMP) process.
  • Project manage roll out of legislation such as FICA and POPIA.
  • Facilitate, review and updating compliance policies, frameworks, and procedures
  • Support quarterly board reporting process
  • Provide guidance to management regarding the interpretation and implementation of legislative changes.
  • Facilitate copetency‑based compliance training and management interventions informed by identified risks.
  • Implement or facilitate the compliance monitoring plan by conducting regulatory compliance monitoring and audits.
  • Track, verify, and report on implementation of corrective actions.
  • Provide regular feedback to operational and corporate governance structures.
  • Promote a proactive compliance risk management culture across operations.
  • Utilise data analytics, regulator trends, and industry insights to identify exposure areas requiring management intervention.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance issues are directed to appropriate channels for investigation and resolution.
