Situated in Springs, Gauteng, Implats is a leading mining and refining company committed to transformation, skills development, and the growth of future artisans. This learnership is designed to provide structured workplace exposure, technical competence, and certification required to qualify as an Electrician.
PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
- Programme duration: 42 months
- Commencement date: August 2026
- Department: Human Resources – Training and Development
- Closing date: 11 March 2026
- This structured learnership leads to an Electrical Trade Test Certificate, conducted under the auspices of the Mining Qualification Authority (MQA).
WHAT YOU WILL GAIN:
As an Engineering Learner – Electrical (Heavy Current), you will:
- Receive hands-on workplace training in a mining and refining environment
- Develop a solid understanding of electrical installation, maintenance, and fault-finding
Gain exposure to:
- Industrial electrical systems and machinery
- Electrical motors, switchgear, and control panels
- Preventative and breakdown maintenance practices
Learn to safely install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment in accordance with legislation and standards
Build a strong technical foundation for long-term career growth in the engineering sector
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
To be considered, you must have:
- A completed N3 or NCV Level 4 Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
- N3 subjects must include Mathematics, Engineering Science, Electrotechnology, Industrial Electronics
- A basic understanding of electrical trade principles
- Medical fitness to work at BMR / PMR plants
