PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Assist production personnel to maintain a safe and healthy environment by monitoring, evaluate and report on Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene and make applicable recommendations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12/ Equivalent with Mathematics and Physical Science is essential
• Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control will be advantageous
• 2 years underground experience (Trackless Mining), of which stoping, and development preferred is essential
• Co-ordinate the activities of Ventilation Construction and Sanitation crews
• A valid medical certificate or medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

The successful candidate is responsible to:

• Assist in coordinating the activities of Ventilation Construction and Sanitation crews.
• Monitor and control the installation and commissioning ventilation systems.
• Monitor underground occupational exposure conditions regarding dust control, air, gases and vapour, noise, water, temperature, illumination and pressure.
• Monitor and control ventilation sampling, testing and make recommendation for improvement.
• Monitor and manage the sanitation and sterilization methods in the workplace.
• Monitor ventilation and occupational hygiene engineering controls.
• Measure and calculate the performance of main fans.
• Conduct audits and write reports.
• Compile ventilation and occupation hygiene reports
• Monitor environmental conditions and report writing.
