PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To safely install, maintain and repair electrical systems, equipment, and machinery.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12/STD 10 (with Mathematics and Physical Science) / NQF Level 4 is essential.
- A recognised relevant Trade qualification (Section 13 or 26D) is essential
OR
- Proof of recognised completed apprenticeship (completed by means of effluxion of time).
AND
- NTC 2 (relevant four subjects) essential.
- Valid code 8 drivers' licence (essential and be able to attend to callouts).
- Minimum of 3 years working experience as an Electrician is essential, of which 2 years is essential on the following:
- MV (33 kV & 6.6 kV) cable installation, termination, fault finding & repairs
- Construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of MV electrical networks including switchgear
- Substation maintenance
- MV testing equipment
- Conveyor maintenance and repairs
- Maintenance and repairs of overhead cranes
- A Valid Red Ticket or medical fitness in order to obtain such a certificate
COMPETENCIES:
- Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in the workplace
- Understand basic electrical and mechanical engineering principles
- Demonstrate an understanding of the uses and safety aspect associated with flammable energy sources
- Perform basic fire fighting
- Perform basic first aid
- Respond to hazardous and emergency conditions
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Attends to callouts with regards to electrical breakdowns.
- Installs batteries.
- Designs and constructs Single and Three Phase Circuits.
- Constructs and commissions Low/Medium/High Voltage networks.
- Plan and organise the electrical maintenance including of all required spares.
- Inspect, maintain, do fault finding and record condition of medium voltage networks and related equipment.
- Install and maintain MV and LV equipment.
- Assist contractors as and when, required.
- Maintain high standard in SHEQ management
