PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To provide safe and efficient transport for claimants, residents, and administrative staff and documents in support of residence operations and related services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12/NQF Level 4 is essential
- 1-3 years workGrade 12/NQF Level 4 is essential
- Drivers license code EC with PRDP is essential
COMPETENCIES:
- Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in a workplace
- Demonstrate knowledge of the road network
- Demonstrate an awareness of customer service
- Perform basic fire fighting
- Perform basic first aid
- Apply basic road transport managerial principles
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Transports claimants to and from various institutions such as mortuaries, Home Affairs, and benefits departments in a safe and professional manner.
- Transports resident transfers between different residences as scheduled or upon request.
- Delivers and collects administrative documents between residences, offices, and relevant departments.
- Provides transport support during residence-related events, relocations, or emergencies.
- Ensures all trips are executed according to approved schedules, with attention to time management and professionalism.
- Conducts daily pre-use vehicle inspections and completes checklists to ensure roadworthiness and safety.
- Reports any vehicle defects or issues immediately (e.g., faulty brakes, worn tyres, malfunctioning lights).
- Maintains accurate trip logs and updates the vehicle logbook after every journey.
- Adheres to company policies, road safety rules, and transport-related procedures at all times.
- Assists passengers with embarking and disembarking where necessary, particularly vulnerable or elderly claimants.
- Keeps the assigned vehicle clean, fueled, and presentable at all times.
