PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Transportation of material, equipment, and explosives by means of a fixed saddle utility vehicle in an underground mine.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 /STD 10 or NQF 4 is Required.
  • UV Operator Certificate is required.
  • 1-2 years' experience as a UV Operator is required.
  • Certificate of Fitness
  • Clear Credit/Criminal Record
  • Valid Driving Licence

  • Teamwork Skills
  • Self-disciplined
  • RFAC and HTS (Rehabilitation Fitness Assessment certificate)
  • HTS (Heat Tolerance Screening)
  • Hand-eye Co-ordination (Dover)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Obtains daily and weekly work instructions from the immediate Supervisor.
  • Performs efficient UV operation to achieve targets within set quality standards.
  • Ensures that the correct tools are used to complete tasks.
  • Ensures that all work conducted is performed to the required safety standards and specifications.
  • Ensures that safe and proper running of all machinery and equipment is conducted.
  • Adheres to the planned maintenance schedule and procedures.
  • Adheres to Traffic Management Plan (travelling routes, parking and end of shift procedure).
  • Ensures that all resources requirements are communicated to immediate Supervisor to complete allocated work tasks.
  • Ensures that all breakdowns are reported to Control Room and the immediate Supervisor as per the Procedure.
  • Delivers on time.
  • Guards against and stops material wastage (cost saving).
  • Ensures good housekeeping standards including the cleanliness of the UV equipment.
  • Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.
  • Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
  • Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
