This position will be part of the dynamic team based at SMC Smelter reporting to the Senior Plant Operator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• 6 O level passes including Mathematics, English Language and Science
• Good understanding of SHEQ standards and procedures
• Previous work experience in a processing or mining environment
• Work experience in Smelter operations and Diploma in Mineral Processing/Extractive Metallurgy or NEC Certificate for Plant Operators will be added advantages.

• Good communication and organisational skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conducting pre-use inspection of equipment and operating checklists and reporting malfunctions to the Senior Plant Operator for corrective action
• Filtration of slurry through Larox, checking slurry density and maintaining stock tank levels
• Monitoring belt and hopper circuit for Larox cake discharge into shed
• Direct blending of Ngezi, SMC Concentrator and Mimosa concentrates during charging into dryer hopper
• Monitoring the flash dryer feed rate
• Tracking of equipment availability and urgent reporting of breakdowns to minimize impact on production
• Monitoring equipment performance and logging of plant parameters on respective sectional log sheets
• Carrying out housekeeping in the section and adhering to the Five Point Safety System, Platinum Rules, Safe Production Rules, and requirements of the companys Business Management Systems policy.
