PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To provide professional social work and employee wellness services within the mine by addressing employees' psychosocial, emotional, behavioral, and social challenges. The role supports employee well-being, productivity, safety, and organizational sustainability through EAP interventions aligned with labour legislation, health and safety requirements, and organizational wellness strategies

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor of Social Work- NQF Level 8 is essential
    • Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) is essential
    • 2-3 Years Experience in Employee Wellness / EAP services is essential
    • Industrial or mining environments (advantageous)
    • 2-3 Years Experience in trauma counselling, substance abuse, and crisis intervention is essential
    • A valid medical certificate or medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate

COMPETENCIES:

  • Knowledge of occupational health, safety, and psychosocial risk management
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and report-writing skills
  • Ability to operate in high-risk, unionized, and production-driven environments
  • Strong understanding of South African labour and social legislation
  • Case management and counselling skills
  • Crisis intervention and trauma support

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

The successful candidate is responsible to:

  • Schedule visitation of employees currently hospitalized and off sick due to Mine related accident or occupational diseases to provide necessities required.
  • Conduct needs assessment of the family of the injured or deceased employees to determine the required support.
  • Provide trauma debriefing to the family of the injured or deceased employees
  • Provide educational support to the children of the deceased employees.
  • Facilitate the restructuring of injured employees' home with social performance and RMA to ensure that it is accessible.
  • Coordinate Employee Assistance programme provided by the external service provider.
  • Arrange accommodation, transport and subsistence for family members visiting injured employees in hospital.
  • Provide injured employees prior to commencement of medical incapacitation process.
  • Facilitate portable skills training for the injured employees after conclusion of medical incapacitation process
