PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To ensure that sales transactions are executed and recorded on the electronic point of sales system in

accordance with the company policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) is essential.
  • Proficiency in using Point of Sale (POS) systems is essential
  • Basic computer skills is essential
  • 1 - 2 years experience as a cashier or in a similar customer service role will be advantageous
  • Experience handling food items and adhering to food safety and hygiene standards will be advantageous

  • Knowledge of cash flow
  • Knowledge of working out consumption and GP Percentage
  • Knowledge of stock taking
  • Good communication skills (Fluent in English)
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Handling cash and transaction skills
  • Good interpersonal skills

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Ensures that all debit cards, credit cards and debtors accounts payments are processed in accordance with company policy and procedure.
  • Ensures that all prices and quantities are correct, and to issue a receipt to each customer
  • Ensures adherence to Health and Safety Standards by wearing correct PPE to prevent injuries at work.
  • Ensures that the work environment is safe from hazards such as loose electrical cables, chemicals, wet floors and to always maintain good housekeeping.
  • Ensures participation in scheduled stock counts/stock take.
  • Welcomes customers, answers their questions, helps them locate items, and provides advice or recommendations.
  • Accepts payments, ensures all prices and quantities are accurate and proves a receipt to every customer.
  • Implements initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improving productivity and reducing operating costs within scope and assists with the implementation thereof to contribute to the achievement of operational objectives.
  • Supports and participates in change management initiatives to drive transformation and optimisation.
  • Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
  • Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
