PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To supervise TM3 Artisans in the maintenance and repair of trackless mobile machinery inclusive of legally mandatory compliance tests to ensure safe and up-to standard machines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent is essential.
  • Recognised relevant Trade qualification - Diesel Mechanic, Motor Mech., Fitter with TM3 modules, Hydraulic Fitter, Diesel Fitter (section 13 or 26D) OR Proof of recognised completed apprenticeship contract (completed by means of effluxion of time); AND NTC2 (Relevant Trade Theory) Qualification is essential.
  • Completed the TM3 modules is essential.
  • Formal Foreman Development Programme is desirable.
  • Minimum 3 years working experience as an artisan in a similar work environment is essential.
  • Minimum 5 years working experience as an artisan is desirable.
  • MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Relevant regulation and standards and procedures.
  • Different types of trackless machines and their components.
  • TM3 workshop environment.
  • Knowledge of mining cycle and mining methods.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Ensures machine availability for safe production and to meet production targets.
  • Ensures quality and efficient work of artisans in order to meet target Mean Time.
  • Repairs and Mean Time Between Failures.
  • Ensures a safe work environment is maintained and kept to standard at all times.
  • Ensures the machines are maintained and inspected to be safe for use as per Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) standards.
  • Ensures adequate availability of spares and effecting repair and returns to service of spares as per spares management procedure.
  • Ensures effective supervision of team in terms of management allocation, discipline, POLC and following proper planned maintenance system compliance.
  • Ensures the workshop environment is up to standard and safe and properly controlled activities therein and inspections thereof.
  • Liaises with other third-party specialists and production supervision.
  • Ensures compliance to environmental standards in area of responsibility.
  • As assigned, is required to exercise control over workshop budget, orders and follow-up.
  • Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
  • Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
  • Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
