PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To assist with the provision of quality health care according to professional standards required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12/ NQF Level 4 is essential
• Enrolled Nursing Assistant Certificate is essential
• Registration with SANC is essential.
• Minimum of 1 year experience as an Enrolled Nurse is essential.
• A Valid Certificate of fitness is essential or medically fit in order to obtain such certificate

COMPETENCIES:

• Knowledge of general nursing is essential
• Knowledge of occupational health is essential
• Interpersonal and Communication skills is essential
• Observation and counselling skills is essential
• Problem solving skills is essential

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Ensures that relevant information is provided for clients/patients to make informed choices.
• Ensures effective supervision of subordinates.
• Prevents the spread of communicable diseases.
• Ensures and maintains a therapeutic environment as always as possible.
• Maintains safety and the well-being of health care workers.
• Ensures that health and professional regulations are adhered to.
• Prevents medico legal hazards at all costs.
• Maintains proper record keeping.
• Promotes nutritional status of patients.
• Monitors intake and output of patients.
