DEPARTMENT :ENGINEERING (SHAFTS)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To safely install, maintain and repair electrical systems, equipment and machinery.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 /STD 10 (NQF 4) is essential
  • Recognised relevant Trade Qualification (Section 13/26D) OR proof of recognised completed apprenticeship contract (completed by means of effluxion of time) essential.
  • NTC 2 (relevant Trade Theory, specialised courses) essential
  • Winder electrician appointment under DMRE is essential.
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience as a winder electrical Artisan is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of surface HT and winders is essential.
  • Knowledge of winders modules is essential.
  • Knowledge of ECAM Digicom system.
  • Knowledge of PLC modules is essential.
  • Valid Medical certificate or medically fit to obtain such a certificate

COMPETENCIES:

  • Must read and have a good understanding of electrical schematics and the associated symbols
  • Must be computer literate and have a good understanding of PLC functionality
  • Must have a good understanding of drive fundamentals
  • Carry out a detailed inspection on shaft signalling systems
  • Conduct a routine inspection on winders
  • Fault find and repair on winders
  • Write technical reports

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Attending to callouts with regards to electrical breakdowns and fault findings.
  • Identifying, inspecting and cleaning electrical machines.
  • Installing and commissioning electrical measuring instruments and control devices.
  • Inspecting electrical main substations.
  • Planned electrical maintenance.
  • Repairing and maintain electric power tools.
  • Maintaining electrical conveyor safety systems.
  • Writing technical reports.
  • Conducting on-the-job coaching.
  • Carry out a detailed inspection on shaft signalling systems
  • Conduct routine inspections on winders
  • Fault find and repair elevators.
