Electrical Serviceman - UTS

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To safely inspect and maintain low voltage electrical equipment and machinery.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 /Std 10 (NQF 4) will be a distinct advantage
• Serviceman Electrical Certificate is Essential
• 1 year working experience as an Electrical Engineering Assistant is Essential
• Valid Medical certificate or medically fit to obtain such a certificate.

COMPETENCIES:

• Must be able to communicate fluently in English.
• Must have knowledge with regards to fundamentals of electricity.
• Must understand the uses and safety aspects associated with flammable energy sources.
• Must be able to identify, inspect, use, maintain and care for engineering hand tools.
• Must be able to select, use and care for engineering measuring equipment.
• Must be able to select, use and care for electrical measuring instruments.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Install and testing batteries for dead cells and replacing defective cells.
• Assist with cleaning of tripping battery, checking and charging cells.
• Maintain battery record systems.
• Install, maintain and repair lights and plugs.
• Identify, inspect, and clean electrical machines.
• Maintain and repair single phase and three phase AC machines and control gear.
• Conduct fault finding, test and repair 525V mcc equipment.
