PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To develop incumbents on a registered learnership programme intended to provide learners with applied competence to qualify as artisans in the following trades: Electrician, Boilermaker, Fitter and Rigger
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of N2 with four (4) subjects or NCV Level 4 (7 subjects with Mathematics passed above 40%) is essential.
- A completed serviceman training programme is essential.
- Engineering employees will be given preference.
The candidate must:
- Undergo assessment and be recommended in order to attend a formal interview.
- Obtain a medical fitness certificate (Red Ticket), complete RFA and Heat Tolerance Screening (HTS).
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- To be trained towards an Artisan / Learnership qualification
- To assist artisans in their job functions and perform technical work (repair, replace and maintain equipment as well as construct and fabricate) by applying engineering principles.
- To execute all allocated maintenance and engineering work safely and identify, follow-up and address risks in the process.
- To successfully complete all engineering training phases through on and off the job training to qualify as an artisan.
- To get accustomed to Impala rules, regulations and standards to ensure organizational best practices and legislative compliance are adhered to.
- To work effectively and diligently with an allocated coach (artisan or foreman) in 'supervised practice'.
- To conduct basic fault diagnosis, problem solving and reporting.
- To maintain engineering equipment efficiently and help prevent production losses.
- To act as supervisor with limited authority to gain supervision skills and experience
