PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To supervise TM3 Artisans in the maintenance and repair of trackless mobile machinery inclusive of legal mandatory compliance tests to ensure safe and up-to standard machines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12/NQF Level 4 is essential
  • Recognized relevant Trade qualification (section 13/26D) is essential

OR

  • Proof of recognised completed apprenticeship contract (completed by means of effluxion of time) AND NTC 2 (Relevant Trade Theory) Qualification is essential
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience as a TM3 Mechanician is essential
  • Computer literacy (MS Office package) is essential
  • SAP experience will be advantageous.
  • Valid Medical Certificate, or medically fit to obtain such a certificate.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Operating computer systems, proficient in using MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SAP
  • Understand basic electrical and mechanical engineering principles
  • Read, interpret and produce basic engineering drawings
  • Knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in and around a workplace
  • Relevant knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act, regulations, standards, and procedures as applicable to trackless mining environment.
  • Must have knowledge of different types of trackless machines and their components
  • Must have knowledge of TM3 workshop environment
  • Knowledge of mining cycle and mining methods would be an advantage

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Ensure machine availability for safe production and to meet production targets.
  • Ensure quality and efficient work of artisans to meet target Mean Time to Repair and Mean Time Between Failures
  • Ensure a safe work environment is always maintained and kept to standard.
  • Ensure the machines are maintained and inspected to be safe for use as per Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) standards.
  • Ensure adequate availability of spares and effecting repair and return to service of spares as per spares management procedure.
  • Ensure effective supervision of team in terms of management allocation, discipline, POLC and following proper planned maintenance system compliance.
  • Ensure the workshop environment is up to standard and safe and properly controlled activities therein and inspections thereof.
  • Liaise with other third-party specialists and production supervision.
  • Ensure compliance to environmental standards in area of responsibility.
  • Exercise control over workshop budget, orders and follow-up as assigned and required.
