PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To maintain and repair activities required of technical and operational systems in support of practice optimisation at trackless shafts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 /STD 10 (NQF 4) Essential
  • Recognised relevant Trade Qualification (Section 13/26D)
  • OR
  • Proof of recognised completed apprenticeship contract (completed by means of effluxion of time) is essential
  • Completion of the following modules: TM3 Training Hydraulic Phase 1, TM3 Training Hydraulic Phase 2, TM3 Training Drive Train and TM3 Training Auto Electrical is essential
  • Computer literacy (MS Office Package) is essential.
  • Minimum of 34 years experience as a trackless artisan is essential (Rham, Sandvik and Aard machines)
  • Relevant knowledge or exposure regarding the maintenance, service and repair of underground mining diesel power trackless mobile machinery
  • Valid medical certificate or must be medically fit to obtain such a certificate

COMPETENCIES:

  • Understanding of basic hydraulics system diagrams.
  • Operating cranes/overhead crawl beams
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of hydraulics/auto electrical systems
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Problem-Solving techniques
  • Identify, inspect, use, maintain and care for engineering hand tools
  • Select, use and care for engineering measuring equipment.
  • Select, use and care for engineering power tools.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Perform routine maintenance on underground mining trackless mobile machines
  • Conduct fault finding on underground mining trackless mobile machines using the necessary equipment and tools
  • Diagnose and repair faults on equipment and machinery during production / operation
  • Attend to callouts if required with regards to mechanical breakdowns
  • Analyse and solve mechanical problems
  • Construct and install, pneumatic and hydraulic circuits.
  • Record findings and provide technical feedback reports
  • Maintaining discipline and control of subordinates
  • Conducting and recording risk assessments
  • Assist in ensuring that all maintenance plans are relevant and comply with legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure own awareness of the Maintenance systems and procedures applied.
  • Follow and monitor progress made and completion of works orders; including submissions made.
  • Ensuring that work areas comply with company-specific good housekeeping and environmental requirements in the workplace.
