PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To operate scraper winches and ancillary equipment and attachments safely
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent is essential.
- A Valid Scraper Winch Operator Certificate of Competence is essential.
- Competent B is essential.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Scraper Winch Operator on a conventional Mine is essential.
- Knowledge of mine standard's best practices, risk management and operational business objectives
- Valid Medical Certificate or be medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
The successful candidate is responsible for:
- Drills holes underground by means of a hand-held rock drill or a stope drill-rig.
- Charges shot holes with primed explosives.
- Installs initiating systems used in blasting operations underground.
- Time blasts rounds or circuits on a face where shock tubes are used.
- Treats and removes misfires.
- installs underground workplace ventilation controls
- installs blocking barricades
- installs winch signalling arrangements in an underground workplace
- Installs and removes pipes, ventilation columns and accessories.
- Constructs concrete winch beds and installs platforms
- Assembles and maintains scraper cleaning equipment and rigging.
- Checks that cables are fastened in accordance with standards.
- Checks that lock out devices are in working order and used according to procedures.
- Checks that signalling devices are working.
- Operates the scraper winch in accordance with standards.
- Removes broken rock by means of a scraper winch in an underground workplace
- Removes accumulation of water from ore passes
- Transports material and equipment by means of a mono rope system
- Conducts basic maintenance activities on the winch
