PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To control warehouse activities in accordance with production needs, ensuring adherence to best warehouse practices, and supervising the performance of subordinates.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 and recognised Logistics / Supply Chain Diploma (NQF Level 6) essential.
- Recognised Supervisory qualification.
- Valid forklift licence.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in warehouse practices within a medium to large manufacturing/production environment.
- Computer literacy (MS Office and SAP).
- Basic Inventory Management knowledge.
- Knowledge of hazardous substances.
- Strong communication, planning, interpersonal, supervisory, problem‑solving and customer‑orientation skills.
- Valid drivers licence.
- Medical fit
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure ethical, honest, and professional conduct in all goods and services transactions.
- Maintain warehouse activities, including reviewing and inspecting bin codes, ensuring goods are received in accordance with purchase orders; ensuring materials handling/warehouse equipment is functional; controlling stock holding and ensuring accurate storage of stock; verifying goods deliveries, SAP receipting, and maintaining documentation.
- Ensure the company is not exposed to commercial risk.
- Maintain safety and environmental standards; provide training and ensure PPE compliance.
- Prevent production disruptions through effective stock level management and on‑time deliveries. Liaise with internal and external customers.
- Manage performance of subordinates, including objective setting, training, attendance monitoring and discipline.
- Ensure warehouse documentation is traceable, actioned, kept, and filed correctly.
- Conduct stock audits, investigate discrepancies.
- Maintain security standards, including locking working areas and controlling access.
- Control redundant stock, equipment and ensure good housekeeping standards.
- Assist with scrap sales administration.
- Ensure adherence to company procedures, policies, and SHEQ standards.
