PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To manage and control the operation of all compressors and fridge plants and water supply levels at Impala as per Impala code of practice.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent is essential
• Instrumentation/Electrical/Fitting Trade Certificate is essential
• Instrumentation/Electrical/Engineering National Diploma is essential
• Minimum 4 years working experience as an artisan is essential
• Previous working experience in the compressor and fridge plant environment is essential

COMPETENCIES:

• Understanding of the compressor, reticulation and use of compressed air
• Understanding of the refrigeration systems and its interacting with the mine regulations
• Understanding of basic safety risks of the refrigeration plant
• Basic understanding of water reticulation on the mine

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Prevents production delays due to lack of compressed air, refrigeration and water supply.
• Optimises electrical power consumption by compressors and fridge plants.
• Ensures that there is effective communication to prevent unnecessary callouts to artisans.
• Optimises communication with management regarding the operation of equipment.
• Ensures immediate communication with security department in case of cable theft.
• Responds to emergency/ security situations at installations.
• Ensures monitored supervision of the operators.
• Ensures regular reporting of daily activities to management.
