PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To optimise the extraction of the ore body and monitor geological conditions to ensure safe, efficient and economical mining operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- BSc Honours Degree in Geology is essential
- MSC Degree in Geology is desirable
- Membership in GSSA, SAIMM is desirable
- Registration as a "Professional Scientist" with SA Council for Natural Scientific Professionals is desirable
- Minimum 1-year on-mine underground experience (complete internal Graduate Exposure/Development Program) in the Geology Department is essential

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Basic contribution (underground mapping, core logging) towards producing a Structure Model for the shaft.
- Basic contribution towards producing a Mineral Resource Model for the shaft.
- Supports all initiatives related to quality mining.
- Implements initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improving productivity and reducing operating costs within scope and assists with the implementation thereof to contribute to the achievement of operational objectives.
- Supports and participates in change management initiatives to drive transformation and optimisation.
- Builds, supports and maintains healthy diverse internal and external relations and implements remedial actions where required.
- Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.
- Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
- Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
- Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
