PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Responsible for the safe, efficient and effective management of the Concentrator plant and Tailings Operation aligned with the broader Implats strategic objectives and specific business plan initiatives as applicable. Responsible for the strategy, management, and performance of the processing facility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    • Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering Degree or NQF 7 equivalent is essential
    • Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering Honours Degree or NQF 8 equivalent will be advantageous
    • Management Development Programme is essential
    • Minimum 10 -12 years' experience in a Mineral Processing environment in the PGM industry is essential
    • Minimum 5 years in a senior managerial role overseeing large-scale operations is essential
    • Must have a valid medical certificate or must be medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Reports all aspects of concentrator operations, offering insights into market conditions and strategic advice
    • Develops and implements strategies collaborating with EXCO, OPCO, and Steercom.
    • Leads stakeholder engagements with unions, communities, and other relevant parties to foster positive
    • Proactively identifies and manages risks, ensuring compliance with legal and industry standards (e.g., MHS Act, ISO9001, ISO14001)
    • Assists in driving skilled management personnel's recruitment, training, and retention
    • Monitors and enhances the performance of the concentrator, emphasizing safety, environmental stewardship, and cost management
    • Ensures the production meets or exceeds quality standards and customer and smelter operation expectations while maximizing operational efficiency
    • Ensures operational efficiency and collaborative success across various departments, engages with cross functional teams
    • Facilitates seamless functioning and fosters collaboration among various technical departments to optimize operational efficiency
    • Offers the Executive: Marula expert technical advice, contributes to informed decision-making processes
    • Provides crucial technical support to line management, ensuring effective implementation of metallurgical processes
    • Acts as a critical liaison between operations and central technical heads, fostering effective communication and Coordination
    • Assists in short-, medium--, and long-term planning initiatives at the shaft level, aligning with organizational objectives and industry best practices
    • Ensures the effectiveness of operational planning activities to enhance overall operational performance.
    • Monitors operational performance, analyses deviations, and advises the Executive: Marula regarding volumes, quality, cost implications, and revenue.
    • Generates and delivers comprehensive technical reports, informs stakeholders on vital metallurgical aspects and performance metrics
    • Provides accurate production-related information at the shaft level, contributes to data-driven decision-making Processes
    • Ensures that relevant industry standards and best practices within the technical domain are applied to uphold quality and safety standards
    • Develops and manages budgets, ensuring financial prudence and resource optimisation
    • Leads health, safety, and environmental initiatives, ensuring all operations adhere to the highest standards and contribute to sustainability goals
