PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To ensure shortcomings of a specific shift supervisor section performance is identified and through the initiation of initiatives and compliance to mining standards are rectified.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 Certificate (NQF Level 4) is essential.
  • Valid Blasting certificate is essential.
  • Shift Supervisor Certificate is essential
  • MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential
  • Mine Overseer Certificate is desirable
  • Minimum of 5 -10 years experience as a Production Shift Supervisor is essential
  • Valid Medical Certificate or medically fit to obtain such a certificate is essential.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Understanding of COP s and standards is essential.
  • Safety Procedures and Programmes is essential.
  • Shift Supervisors monthly planning protocol
  • Report writing skills
  • Systematic Supervision and basic Financial Knowledge
  • Shaft logistics and material ordering and distribution
  • Analysing progress reports
  • Negotiations and conflict handling Skills
  • Team Orientation (Team Player)
  • Presentation Skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Assess, monitor, and track all on-going equipment, process and service trials in the mining value chain against set standards.
  • Identify and escalate risks, deviations, or non-compliance during trial execution.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all trial activities, results, and supporting documentation.
  • Reporting of periodic progress on performance of all equipment on trial.
  • Ensure people management best practices are adhered to (directly manages shift supervisors, who manage miners).
  • Plan short term and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Supervising and directing people at work to ensure complaisance with laws/ regulations and mining standards and procedures.
  • Emphasising the importance of reaching a work objective and motivating individuals.
  • Ensuring effective co-ordination of activities.
