PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

• To ensure that goods and services are procured at the right price, quality and delivered on time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• A relevant NQF Level 5 qualification in the Supply Chain field essential.
• Minimum of 1-year relevant buying experience within a supply chain environment.
• Sound knowledge of various processes of acquiring goods and services, tender process and commercial risk analysis.
• Knowledge of RFQ (Request for Quotation) and RFI (Request for Information) practices.
• Knowledge of relevant software packages and computer literacy skills.
• Good communication-, negotiation-, planning and time management skills.
• Must be customer orientated with problem solving- and decision-making skills.
• Must be medically fit.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To optimize company buying power / purchasing resources.
• Prevent disruption to production unit by ensuring on time buying and delivery.
• Manage individual supplier performance through expediting.
• Optimise purchasing function by driving costs to a minimum without sacrificing quality of service levels to the end user.
• Maintain all purchasing information to a consistently high accurate standard.
• Reduce any commercial risk or possible financial exposure to the business unit by using basic purchasing principles.
