PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
- To ensure that goods and services are procured at the right price, quality and delivered on time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- A relevant NQF Level 5 qualification in the Supply Chain field essential.
- Minimum of 1-year relevant buying experience within a supply chain environment.
- Sound knowledge of various processes of acquiring goods and services, tender process and commercial risk analysis.
- Knowledge of RFQ (Request for Quotation) and RFI (Request for Information) practices.
- Knowledge of relevant software packages and computer literacy skills.
- Good communication-, negotiation-, planning and time management skills.
- Must be customer orientated with problem solving- and decision-making skills.
- Must be medically fit.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To optimize company buying power / purchasing resources.
- Prevent disruption to production unit by ensuring on time buying and delivery.
- Manage individual supplier performance through expediting.
- Optimise purchasing function by driving costs to a minimum without sacrificing quality of service levels to the end user.
- Maintain all purchasing information to a consistently high accurate standard.
- Reduce any commercial risk or possible financial exposure to the business unit by using basic purchasing principles.
