Position Summary:

The Database Administrator is responsible for providing operational database services to the organization; primarily, resolving incidents, responding to alerts and reviewing service reports (database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to meet established service level agreements (SLAs).

The incumbent must have a service-oriented mentality, a high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, a focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes.

This position requires to work on IST TimeZone

Technical Skills Needed:

  • MySQL, PostgreSQL
  • NoSQL, cassandra, Tableau
  • Strong Linux skills is preferred
  • Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
  • Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for RDBMSs.
  • Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.

Qualification : Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science

Primary Accountabilities:
Technical (100%)

  • Install and configure multiple RDBMSs and components
  • Install and deploy databases
  • Regularly address database performance tuning
  • Create backup plans and test disaster recovery scenarios
  • Creative and technical problem-solver, able to isolate and resolve database issues in real time to maintain access and data integrity
  • Lead in planning, upgrades and maintaining database SOPs
  • Expert level knowledge of business continuity practices
