About the job Assistant Produce Manager
The Assistant Produce Manager supports the Produce Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the produce department. This role helps ensure fresh, high-quality fruits and vegetables are available, assists with inventory and merchandising, and provides excellent customer service to maintain a clean and attractive department.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist with ordering, receiving, and stocking fresh produce

Ensure all produce items are fresh, rotated regularly, and properly displayed

Support pricing, labeling, and promotional signage in accordance with store policies

Help maintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards in the department

Monitor inventory levels and assist in minimizing spoilage and shrinkage
-
Provide training, guidance, and supervision to produce clerks and staff
-
Address and resolve customer inquiries and complaints professionally

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations
-
Assist in planning and executing seasonal displays and promotional events

Report any issues related to quality, equipment, or suppliers to the Produce Manager
Qualifications and Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent (additional training in retail or food safety is a plus)

Previous experience in grocery or produce department preferred

Knowledge of fruits, vegetables, and perishables handling

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Good communication and customer service skills

Ability to lift, carry, and stand for extended periods

Familiarity with inventory systems and basic computer skills
