About the job Accounting Director

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, tax, and financial reporting.

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.

  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure data integrity and financial compliance.

  • Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Collaborate with the CFO to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning efforts.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international tax regulations.

  • Monitor and analyze accounting data, and produce financial reports or statements as needed.

  • Manage and mentor a team of accountants, fostering professional development and performance.

  • Oversee financial systems upgrades or implementations.

  • Liaise with external partners such as auditors, banks, and tax consultants.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Masters degree preferred).

  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification required.

  • Minimum 810 years of progressive experience in accounting, including 3+ years in a leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, tax laws, and financial regulations.

  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.

  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in  accounting (e.g., healthcare, manufacturing, tech).

  • Knowledge of international financial operations and consolidation.

  • Familiarity with SOX compliance (if applicable).
