Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize biochemical processes including fermentation, cell culture, enzymatic reactions, and downstream purification.

  • Scale laboratory processes to pilot and industrial scale, ensuring process efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

  • Collaborate with R&D and manufacturing teams to implement new bioprocess technologies.

  • Conduct process simulations and risk assessments to improve yield, throughput, and safety.

  • Develop and maintain process documentation including SOPs, batch records, and process flow diagrams (PFDs).

  • Analyze experimental data and prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations and industry standards (e.g., GMP, ISO).

  • Evaluate and select equipment, materials, and technologies suitable for biochemical manufacturing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field. Ph.D. is a plus.

  • [25+] years of hands-on experience in bioprocess development or biochemical manufacturing.

  • Strong understanding of biochemistry, microbiology, and chemical engineering principles.

  • Proficiency in using bioreactors, chromatography systems, and analytical instruments (e.g., HPLC, GC, spectrophotometers).

  • Experience with process modeling software (e.g., Aspen Plus, SuperPro Designer) is a plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and team collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in GMP-regulated environments.

  • Knowledge of metabolic engineering or synthetic biology.

  • Familiarity with PAT (Process Analytical Technology) and QbD (Quality by Design) principles.
