The Health and Safety Manager leads the development, implementation, and oversight of health and safety policies, programs, and procedures across the organization. Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement health and safety management systems (HSMS) and ensure alignment with legal requirements and industry best practices.

Lead incident investigations, audits, and risk assessments; ensure corrective actions are implemented and monitored.

Ensure full compliance with local, state/provincial, and federal occupational health and safety legislation (e.g., OSHA, WHMIS, ISO 45001).

Oversee the delivery of safety training, onboarding, and continuous education for staff and contractors.

Analyze safety performance data and metrics; generate reports and present findings to senior leadership.

Serve as the organizations primary liaison with regulatory agencies and manage inspections or inquiries.

Promote a culture of safety through leadership, communication, and engagement initiatives.

Supervise health and safety personnel and provide mentorship and support.

Lead emergency preparedness and response planning, including drills and scenario testing.

Support sustainability, wellness, and environmental initiatives where applicable.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.

5+ years of progressive experience in health and safety, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, standards, and best practices.

Experience in incident investigation, hazard analysis, and risk management.

Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Proficient with MS Office and safety management systems (SMS).
Preferred Certifications:

CRSP, CSP, NEBOSH, CHSC, or equivalent professional safety designation.

First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, OSHA 30, ISO 45001 Internal Auditor, or other relevant training.

Experience with COR certification process and maintenance (if applicable to your region).
